Google integrates code search in main results page

Google has integrated results from Code Search as snippets in the main search results page.

Google Code Search - service from Google designed to allow programmers and others seek out computer code from across the web and was launched on Oct 5.2005.

It's beneficial as it can help new developers see how other experienced developers solve certain problems and learn from their techniques, and helps experienced developers to locate code snippets and build on them in their own code. But as with most anything, Google Code Search can be used for malicious intentions.

Google's John Mueller: very long URLs can hurt rankings.

In a Google Groups discussion, Google's John Mueller mentioned on a specific URL as being a bit too long for comfort.

The URL in question is :

http://www.gadgetguy.com.au/small-kitchen-appliances-toaster-kettle-coffee-machine-blender-juicer-channel7-sunrise-australia-42.html

John said "Now I'm all for having descriptive URLs, but .... this seems to be taking it a bit too far and I have a bit of trouble identifying anything that matches in the content of your page"

It seems he is pointing out the URL as being something that may raise a red flag in Google.
